Although I’d never been to one, and didn’t know anyone who actually had, the whole concept sounded so contrived and artificial, it couldn’t possibly result in anything but an awful evening and hopefully a hilarious story. As I walked in and scanned the room, my hopes didn’t exactly soar. Once the event started, the ladies were instructed to have a seat at a table with a number at it, and the gentlemen would rotate every five minutes. As the first gentleman took a seat at my table, the conversation began instantly and I might as well have been casually approached by a guy at a wine bar.

Being surrounded by colleagues in the industry can be so refreshing; often, podcasting is an isolating experience, whether it be due to recording to due to the lack of podcast awareness of the general public. Events like Podcast Movement immerse you in the culture of podcasting, and that alone makes the event worth attending. This feeling of camaraderie and face-to-face interaction was exemplified in the first event I attended: The event was, essentially, speed dating in a professional format.
Each table had a color on it, and each attendee was given a card showing which color table they should sit at for the next round of speed networking. Each person was to answer a set of questions their name, their podcast, what they were hoping to learn, etc. Having this structure took the pressure off of us for networking. The women I met at this event wound up being people I spoke to consistently throughout the week, even if I only saw them for about ten minutes.
I know nothing about IP, copyright, or entertainment law, so I was initially worried this session would go over my head.

By cycling singles through brief, several-minute dates with strangers, these events are designed to break through the dinner-and-a-movie red tape and get straight to the point: Are you attracted to this person, or nah? Of course, meeting stranger after stranger can get monotonous. You can only tell someone your occupation so many times before you want to pull your hair out. But there’s more than one way to test attraction — science says so. That’s what sensory speed dating is all about.
We hope that people leave thinking, ‘I didn’t realize science could be so cool! Held in swanky nightlife venues like Caveat and House of Yes in New York and Queen of Hoxton and The Book Club in London, these events pair daters of all persuasions — single and partnered, monogamous and polyamorous, and every point on the gender and sexuality spectrum — for six rounds of the world’s most unusual getting-to-know-you game.
Here’s how each round plays out: Sound Participants don blindfolds and tell each other an embarrassing story using their “sexiest voice. After this and every round, people secretly wrote down whether or not they’d be open to going on a date with the person they’d encountered, then moved on — still blindfolded and led by a guide — to the next potential love interest.
Taste “This is everyone’s favorite round,” Koski said.

Did I pronounce that right? As we start here, could you first tell us what was the motivation to do this paper? Why did you choose this topic and how did you come to eventually study multiple myeloma? So we had our first experiences with bone marrow imaging and dual-energy CT with traumatic bone marrow changes and then we also saw that every patient with multiple myeloma or we suspected multiple myeloma sooner or later will need to have an assessment of bone status and this is routinely done by whole body computed tomography.
So this computed tomography is in the axial skeleton only to detect osteolytic changes. So let me ask you this question. You started applying this technique to traumatic bone lesions. And that would seem to be a harder problem than tumor perhaps. How do you compare the challenge of using dual-energy CT for trauma with edema detection versus what you were trying to achieve with tumor detection?
So in theory tumor detection should be even easier than detection of traumatic bone marrow edema.

Speed dating has been around since , when Rabbi Yaacov Deyo and several of his single students put a new twist on the longstanding Jewish tradition of introducing young Jewish singles to one another at chaperoned gatherings. At a speed dating event, participants are paired up in a series of quick five- to seven-minute “dates. While seven minutes may not seem long enough to determine whether a new acquaintance is a potential match, Rabbi Deyo and other speed dating organizers have found that it gives participants plenty of time to gauge their level of interest or get a feeling that the other person is just not the right fit.
As an added bonus, the round-robin setup enables participants to meet more potential matches in one evening than they might otherwise encounter in a month or more of traditional dating. Speed dating services can be found in just about any major city, but there’s no need to wait for the next scheduled meet-up in your area.
